Today we wish a very special birthday to former Cincinnati Reds owner and terrible human being Marge Schott. She may not have been the smartest, or the prettiest but when it came to using horrible racial epithets for her black players, well she was just the tops. At least she was equal opportunity - when she wasn’t getting shitfaced and letting her dog Schottzie shit all over Riverfront Stadium she was also throwing our Hebraic brethren under the bus with comments supporting Adolph Hitler. And maybe my favorite move of hers, if only because it is so subtly hilarious, when Marge announced half way through the 1995 season that Cincinnati manager Davey Johnson would not be returning to the team after the season, regardless of how the Reds did. Marge said it was due to a personality clash, but Johnson later alleged that he believed it was because, ‘(Schott) did not approve of me living with my fiancée before we were married.’ Schott is one of those rare people that give me what’s called, ‘big picture perspective’. All I have to do is read a few of her quotes and quickly realize, ‘huh… maybe I’m not that terrible of a person after all.’

Also, I apologize for the video. I was hoping youtube would have a clip of her saying something ridiculous or awful. Instead all I could find is this horseshit puff piece from WLWT documenting her trip to do Late Night with David Letterman… hard hitting stuff WLWT. I bet they are still polishing that Pulitzer in Cincinnati for ‘Schottzie’s Big Adventure’.
